Pisces Fish Kitchen is a compact fish and chips spot tucked on Richmond Road in Kingston upon Thames, carving out its own identity beyond the typical takeaway experience. This is the kind of place where the focus is firmly on freshness and straightforward quality rather than frills.

The interior is modest and relatively small, making it ideal for a quick, satisfying meal rather than a lengthy sit-down. You’ll find the atmosphere unpretentious and friendly — the owner, Sam, is known locally for his warm welcome and hands-on approach, often chatting with customers and ensuring each order is cooked fresh to the minute.

Pisces excels if you’re craving classic fish and chips that aren’t weighed down by soggy batter or tired oil. The batter crisps up nicely, holding its crunch without being greasy. Cod and haddock both sit around £9.40, and other options include plaice, skate, and more imaginative seafood items like calamari and king prawns, giving a little variety to the usual lineup. For those avoiding gluten, grilled cod is a thoughtful alternative here — the kitchen understands dietary needs and is transparent about cross-contamination risks.

This spot is best suited for locals or visitors looking for a no-nonsense, authentic take on fish and chips away from busier high streets. Lunchtimes or early evenings see steady streams of regulars, attracted by the quick service and the atmosphere shaped by genuine care rather than aesthetics.

It’s also a good choice if you appreciate someone behind the counter who really knows their craft and is happy to accommodate special requests — whether that’s adding a fresh salad as a side or explaining the nuances of their frying oil. The chips come in generous portions, often given with a friendly extra, reinforcing that community feel.

In short, Pisces Fish Kitchen offers a straightforward, reliably tasty fish and chips experience framed by local friendliness rather than flashiness, fitting neatly into the casual dining scene of Kingston upon Thames.

Sam is a nice and friendly chief and his F&C are fresh, juicy and very delicious - made to the minute Try out, even if it's a bit outside the city and a small place - worth it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ First-Time Visit – Exceptional Experience! Visited this fish and chip shop for the first time and was genuinely impressed. From the moment I walked in, the owner made me feel incredibly welcome with their warm and friendly attitude. The service was excellent – attentive without being intrusive, and you could tell they truly care about their customers. The food was cooked fresh to order and tasted absolutely delicious. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the chips were spot-on. You could really taste the quality and freshness in every bite. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and outstanding service. I will definitely be returning again!

First and foremost, the owner of the company is an exceptional individual. He is not only pleasant and meticulous but also highly knowledgeable in his field. Now, let's talk about the food. The fish I had in London was absolutely delightful; it was the most delicious and freshest fish I have ever tasted. The potatoes and fish were fried to perfection using top-notch oil, leaving no room for disappointment. Surprisingly, the restaurant had a fragrant ambiance with a floral scent, rather than the typical fishy odor. I am genuinely impressed, and I can confidently say that I will remain a loyal customer for many years to come. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience.

Good service and good food. The fish and chips is not gluten free, the store had good understanding of gluten allergy and informed that while the breading can be done with gluten free rice flour, it’s fried in the same oil and cross contamination will occur. I opted instead for a grilled cod and it was excellent.

Not had fish and chips for years. Looked up where to go as my son requested a bday treat while keeping up his lent restrictions. Our meals were all very good, especially the size and batter on the fish. Was crispy, not wet or stodgy at all. The owner Sam was very friendly, welcoming and went out of his way to accommodate us. He even threw in extra chips and a really lovely fresh salad for free. My mum was fascinated by how clean the shop was too. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others. All over great experience from start to finish!!

Great food. Not many fish and chips do delicious salad. Fish was incredible. There wasn't huge amount of chips which made the meal balanced and not crazy on the carbs! People were very nice. Huge recommend!

Hands down the best fish and chips in town – the batter is golden and shatteringly crisp, with steaming hot, flaky cod inside that tastes straight from the sea. The chips are thick, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned, making every bite addictive. We love it so much and can’t wait to visit it again.

We’re visiting from Taiwan and happened to pass by here by accident. Apparently, this is the best fish and chips we’ve had throughout our trip. The owner greeted us with warm hospitality, and we absolutely loved the dish. It’s definitely a must-try!
